Students On Mission: WinShape Camps for Communities
An Update from Sarah Catherine
Sarah Catherine Watts is diligently working with WinShape Camps for Communities for eleven weeks this summer. Her team has been traveling across the East Coast, hosting camp each week at different partnering churches. Sarah Catherine and her team use these camps to preach the gospel to children and to families who may not otherwise step into a church. By presenting curriculum that is centered on gospel truths, Sarah Catherine is able deliberately share the gospel with a new set of campers every week.
She has also been serving as a teacher for daily activities for girls, called “Girl’s World.” During this time, she is able to intentionally teach these girls about what it means to be women who bear the image of our Creator.
In her final two weeks of camp, our church can be praying for continued fostering of the gospel in these areas after WinShape Camps leave – pray that the host churches will continue to proclaim the gospel to these students, build connections with their families, and that disciples will be made!
An Update from Thomas
For nine weeks this summer, Thomas Costello and his WinShape Camps for Communities team have been traveling throughout the greater part of Florida. They have been faithful to engage with the communities of Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Sarasota, Stuart, Port Charlotte, Gainesville, Clearwater, and Ponte Vedra and Gulf Breeze. Similar to Sarah Catherine, Thomas was placed on one of ten teams that travel across the state, setting up an unprecedented day camp experience for kids that might not otherwise get the chance to attend a summer camp and hear the gospel.
Thomas has been serving as a team time leader and teaching campers about what it means to love God with all that we have. The WinShape theme for the summer comes from Mark 12:30. These students have studied through how to love God with all that they are by seeking scripture, hearing the message of the Gospel, and sharing personal stories. Thomas has also taught his students about Christ through musical theatre – focusing specifically on how believers can use their talents to glorify God.
Our church can pray for these communities and the local churches that have hosted camp. Pray that God would continue to water and nourish the seeds that have been planted, and that people would come to salvation!
