Sermon Reflection - "Biblical Evangelist"
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 - "Biblical Evangelist"
Healthy church members are ambassadors for Christ which yields biblical evangelism. The gospel is makes us ambassadors changing our perspectives, our person and posture, and our profession.
Truths from What is a Healthy Church Member? by Thabiti Anyabwhile
"A healthy church member works to make sure that he himself is converted, but he also wors to make sure that his evangelistic efforts are informed by a biblical understanding of conversion."
Thabiti suggests that biblical evangelism requires primarily one thing, "that we be faithful to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the people God places in contact with us." Practically this means:
- Our message must be content specific, presenting the truth about "who God is, who men are, what sin is, who Jesus is, what Jesus has done about sin, and what we must do about what Jesus has done."
- It must include the truth that Christ is the only way of salvation.
- And it must call the hearer to repentance and faith in Christ.
In what ways are you communicating and demonstrating the gospel to others?
How can we include the church in our evangelistic efforts?
